Infant and Toddler Early Childhood Educator

Permanent Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Alex House is looking for a caring, mindful, passionate, and collaborative individual for the role of Infant and Toddler Early Childhood Educator. Our team is collaborative and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to learning alongside the First Peoples Principles of Learning and the BC Early Learning Framework. Key Duties and REsponsibilities:

Our Infant and Toddler Early Childhood Educator will work collaborately with a team of Early Childhood Educators to plan, develop and deliver daily activities, that support and promote the health and development of children 0-3 years of age, using the Reggio Emilia approach to learning alongside the BC Early Learning Framework. Other responsibilities include developing strong relationships and communication with children, families and colleagues, and implementing high standards of care and supervision that promote the well-being of all children. And other related duties as required. 

Salary: $20.29-$24.03 (plus $6 WE depending on qualifications); ANHBC Band C2-C3

Start Date: As soon as possible

Position will remain open until successful candidtae is found.

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Experience working in a licensed childcare setting an asset 

  • Infant and Toddler ECE (or in school to complete Infant and Toddler) and First Aid certificate 

  • Understanding and/or willingness to learn the Reggio Emilia approach to learning the First Peoples Principles of Learning and the BC Early Learning Framework 

  • Understand, support and implement Decolonization, Inclusion and Diversity strategic plans for Alex House 

  • Experience and working knowledge of creating a care plan is an asset. 

  • Strength in creating and maintaining a supportive and collaborative partnership with families 

  • Creativity, flexibility, initiative, enthusiasm and sense of humor 

  • Passion for on-going professional growth and development 

  • Ability to work in a multicultural and inclusive environment 

  • Strong planning, organizational, leadership and communication skills 

  • Proven sound judgement, ethical decision making, ability to stay calm under pressure and appropriate personal and professional boundaries 

  • In a non-profit community-based organization, have the ability to work in a multicultural and inclusive environment
