Alex House’s School Aged Programs

Work and school rarely run on the same schedule, that’s why it’s so important to provide before and after school care along with full day care on all school closure days for our children in the community. Not only does this give them a chance to make friends and engage in educational activities, but it also allows parents and caregivers an opportunity to maintain their work/education schedules.

Our programs are available to children in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and are offered full-time (5 days a week) or part-time (2-4 days). Part-time placements must commit to the same days each week and include a Monday or a Friday in their requested days. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate fluctuating schedules.

In addition to providing care to younger children, there is also school aged care provided at these facilities:

    • Transportation services are available to and from Pacific Heights Elementary

  • Crescent Beach

    • This is a BC $10/day child care site 

    • Transportation service to and from Ocean Cliff Elementary)

On school days, all sites are open Monday to Friday 7:30 - 8:30 AM and 2:30 - 5:30 PM. We are closed for ALL statutory holidays.

For school closure days, (Pro-D days, winter, spring and summer breaks) our full-day program is available 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM.

Registration Information to Note:

  • Families who are currently registered with us will have priority for movement between classes and/or locations, changes of days, and enrolment of siblings

  • Priority for new registrations will be given to those families who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit), children with exceptional needs, lone-parent families, and newcomers to Canada (within the past year). 

  • Major adjustments to our enrollment usually occur at the end of June and into the beginning of September; however, there are occasional spaces that become available during the year.

  • We register children in our programs based on full-time (5 days/week) or part-time (2-4 days/week). Children attending part-time must determine which days of the week they will attend on a regular basis. We are not able to accommodate changing schedules, but occasionally may be able to accommodate additional days of care if there is a known vacancy in the program.

We are honoured that our Kensington Prairie, Crescent Park, Crescent Beach and Don Christian Modular sites have been chosen to be a part of the BC $10/day child care program

For all non-$10/day sites, we participate in the Provincial Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative and accept the BC Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB).
