Meet the Alexandra Neighbourhood House Board

KATE HAMMER
I'm a failed scientist who got an internship covering crime and breaking news for the metro desk of the New York Times and never looked back. After that I moved to Toronto to work for the Globe and Mail, where my investigative and beat reporting won awards. After covering education for several years I was recruited to work as a senior policy advisor to the Premier of Ontario. I've volunteered in various capacities and served on boards, and think it's the best way to get to know your community. That's one of the reasons why, when my family moved across the country to White Rock, I was humbled and excited to be invited to join the board of Alexandra Neighbourhood House.HOLLY KOVACH
Holly Kovach has worked in the Financial Services Industry for 40 years, the last 39 with Vancouver City Savings Credit Union. Holly is currently Community Branch Manager at the Semihamoo Community Branch. Holly has volunteered with many non-profit organizations including Vibrant Victoria, CEDCO, Fraser Valley Disabilities Association and James Cameron School for Children with Learning Disabilities. She is passionate about Social Justice, Financial Literacy and addressing the needs of the Elderly and Youth. Holly is a proud resident of White Rock, and believes strongly in shopping local.KIKO KUNG, YOUTH COLLECTIVE REP
They/them pronouns. Resident nerd at the Youth Space. If you have questions about youth led initiatives, anti-oppression or are in need of cute stickers, let's chat! Look for the kid with the purple backpack. I'm currently super into puzzle marathons + taro milk tea + world history + beekeeping + astrology (pisces sun, capricorn moon anyone?) Interests are subject to change in two weeks - I'm always stoked to learn new things!!DEREK LACROIX, TREASURER
Derek got involved with Alex House in 2013 following the Longhouse Extreme Makeover when he and his colleagues at Investors Group volunteered the weekend to get their hands dirty and help revitalize the Longhouse building for years to come. Derek has lived in the lower mainland his entire life, growing up in Richmond, and spending the last 10 years in Cloverdale with his family. He currently works as a Financial Planner at Investors Group locally.DANIELA PRICE
